Man is a natural system, and as such constitutes an arrangement of subsystems that belong to descending levels in the hierarchy, including such subsystems as the nervous system and particular organic systems, tissues, cells, up to molecular structures and subatomic partic1es. On the other hand, however, a human being is a subsystem in a hierarchy of more complex, ascending wholes, such as a relationship of two persons of opposite sex, a farnily, a community, culture, society, nation and mankind [Laszlo, Brody, Sheldon, Querido].
